introducing klorin, a collaboration between kenton slash demon and norin, also known as the lead singer of swedish synth-pop trio lust for youth. their debut ep noncompliance floats inbetween industrial hypnotic techno and dark ambient, created in a number of early morning sessions in kenton slash demons copenhagen studio. we were fascinated by the idea of combining something that was almost primal or tribe like rhythmically with an atmosphere that felt tecnologically advanced and futuristic, aiming to capture a feeling of being detached from society in an industrialized, achromatized and modern world.

having originally surfaced on creme organization back in 2002, luke eargoggle and ronnie johansson s monkeyshop project is an intermittent treat that offers the best of warm synth-led electronic disco. on their second outing for ali renault s vivod label (after the excellent escape from the mental zoo ep in 2014) the pair bring yet more of that addictive, utopian dance magic on this new record. -island of love- is indeed a romantic club burner with smatterings of vintage synth pop in its bones, while -heartbreak- takes a more overtly italo direction and sounds just as strong with it. obergman then takes -island of love- to task with a respectful remix that shines a few different synth lines and beat patterns through the same fuzzy prism.

the second chapter of the various artists serie -obscura europa s.a- is here. synth based -dark band sound- on its maximal exposure. from brazil to belgium, passing by switzerland, poland and australia, this serie presents some of best darkwave hymns uncomprehensively not pressed on vinyl to date. all tracks have been analogically remastered specially for this vinyl version by eric van wonterghem.

midwest groove master titonton duvante joins the god particle family with licentious gopa06. a1 licentious duvante displays his master of musical yin and yang with title track licentious. mischievous synth tones dip between a steady line of kicks and claps and bounce above a deep sea-dwelling bass line. b1 permittivity permittivity is a bottom heavy party starter with hints of acid and subtle vocal samples. warm synth keys wash over the last half of the track, perfect for sending out cosmic smoke signals. b2 sans compunction closing track sans compunction takes us on a darker drive, exploring the outer nebula. ominous synth lines dance along duvantes signature flirtatious rhythms.

increasingly known for his productions as much as his storied dj sets, eric cloutier approaches the studio with the same kind of precision that marks out his club and festival appearances. on this first release on palinoia he exercises a keen sense of control over playful elements, not least on lead track -heuristic-. the nagging lead synth may hop around the mix, but it stays locked on to a thoroughly focused undercarriage of drums and low end that suits the professional techno set. -ipseity- is lighter in its demeanour thanks to some calming pad tones, but the strong structure of the track remains. the release rounds up with the slower thump of -opprobrium-, surmising cloutier s attitude to the warm-up part of a serious, long-lasting dj set.

crimes of the future is the kind of label you can trust, no matter who is at the controls. the same could be said for giallo disco, and certainly the two labels orbit a similar space for lurid soundtrack-inspired hardware jams from the italo age. vercetti technicolor is one half of the giallo team alongside antoni maiovvi, and here steps out with a perfectly bombastic range of compositions that revel in b-movie brilliance. -golden taurus- is the perfect slow-burner, those mono bass notes warming like no soft synth ever could, while -topaz fear- brings a more action-driven sequence into the mix. -death wish- too opts for a pumped up club scenario, while heinrich dressel smokes out -golden taurus- into a seedy slow-jam.

the eleventh release on romb is a wild yet beautiful mini compilation, combining detroit and chicago vibes with uk breakbeats and a dash of melancholic electronica: a generous ep with dj friendly tracks that will also work perfectly at home. the a-side starts off with a detroit flavored acid house groover by new artist almost automatic, followed by solarity, a stormy, break-ridden dance stepper with an epic feel. on the flipside sean dixon, well-known from releases on clone and rawax as well as his own final chapter imprint, delivers a clean-cut italo infused chicago house gem. the ep ends with a beautiful, melodic down-tempo synth journey by daniel savio. all in all a diverse and playful ep with old-school vibes, yet with fresh twists and turns. limited to 200 copies only, this is a gem not to be missed.

hailing from the small town of stroud, south west england, marcel lune has been quickly building his reputation as one of the hottest new talents in the uk bass music scene. having discovered an 808 in his parents attic at a young age, it quickly became one his favourite toys and set him off on a musical voyage which is beginning to gather momentum. having already released a string of releases including a full album for studio rockers last year, this release with local talk is a new chapter in the ever growing marcel lune saga. this debut for local talk is nothing short of brilliance. an ep that sits somewhere between the early floating points days and local talk s very own crackazat jamming with harvey sutherland. from the opening track sketches marcel brings broken house rhythms, piano chords and dancing acid lines in a glorius way. the clever vocal arrangement on eat good takes no prisoners and on the flip crazy love , another vocal track, marcel slows things down a bit together with vocalist bluesz. the ep ends with soul music, upping the energy level slightly with its snappy, jazz-influenced beats and dancing synth lines. a beautiful and fitting addition to the ever expanding local talk catalogue.

glow worm/aloha ice jam is the third release from oflynn, and follows two sell out releases on blip discs. described by boiler room as one of dance music s most prosperous newcomers, oflynn is quickly establishing a reputation as a bright young talent and has already had his releases supported by ben ufo, gilles peterson, bonobo, pearson sound, bradley zero, joy orbison and four tet to name but a few. a-side glow worm was premiered by james blake on his bbc radio 1 residency show and showcases a contagious synth melody that is underpinned by a percussive house groove. in a similar way to both his previous releases, the flip side takes things into a whole new territory, and in this instance the infectious disco-tinged aloha ice jam takes aim squarely at the dance floor and doesnt miss

new york experimentalists sheik n beik continue on form as they follow up records from japans keita sano, legowelt & xosar and jeffrey scott with a bold and atmospheric 12inch from jerry riggs & maxwell church a.k.a hermans. hailing from toronto - hermans specialise in their own brand of esoteric techno that lends them perfectly to a release on sheik n beik. their things change ep slots neatly into the catalogue with its blend of spooky melodies and analogue drum work. diana (how youve changed) kicks things off with an infectious vocal loop and juddering drum patterns. brooklyn’s max pask then follows up with his take on diana which sets 909 drums over a thick, burning acid line. endless toil then follows up with a tightly wound groove built with metallic whacks and frazzled, flexing synth tones. forget the past then brings the package to a thumping close as manic synth lines dart between crunching drums in another strong addition to sheik n beiks catalogue.

san francisco-based butane makes his debut on jamie jones hottrax with three hypnotizing productions this october. founder of alphahouse and little helpers, andrew rasse aka butane has been building a solid reputation as a respectable dj, producer and label owner for over a decade now. when not releasing his low-slung dancefloor focused cuts on his own imprints the multifaceted american has made appearances on sci+tec, crosstown rebels and moan. he now appears on hottrax joining a roster spanning waff, patrick topping, mat.joe, bunte bummler, raumakustik, dms12 and jamie himself. a gentle thud initiates addicted, making way for a throbbing synth that warps and distorts throughout the mix whilst a fuzzy bassline operates beneath it. lock and key focuses on intricate percussion whilst dusky atmospherics and a medley of nuances are introduced throughout before shark attack concludes the package with a rumbling low-end and compelling groove.

betonkust and palmbomen ii are back with their second collaborative effort. this time on the dutch pinkman label. six brand new tracks that seem a lot darker than their previous work. somewhere between belgian new beat from 1988 and the west coast sound of holland. a lo-fi nightmare that turns out to be reality. pounding drums, paranoid acid patterns and angsty out of control synth choirs.

after a few months of silence following head honcho marco shuttles sing like a bird (reprise) ep, eerie records is back on duty with a strong and utterly refreshing techno release by talented artist serena butler, an obscure producer digged out of the submerged underworld as it already happened previously on shuttles imprint that got us used to releases by relatively unknown and underrated artists. arpeggiated synth lines layered on booming reverbed kick drums mixed with percussive elements of distorsion and lush pads make for a very playable release that is at the same time dreamy and deep, despite being also very organically open sounding, musical, and in many ways counter-trend and different to the dominating dark droning techno style that is so popular these days.

newborn munich based label slam city jams comes around the corner with its first release from young gun gonima straight outta montreal, canada. his grids ep? an exciting mixture of swinging distorted drums, catchy melodies and hazy atmospheres. you can definitely spot gonima s passion for dx7 adventures, analog drums and tape hiss right here. opener -grids- starts off with lush synth blips, 707 drums and a bassline bootsy collins would give high-fives for. -subdivided- is one of these tracks that shows you that it doesn’t need more than a few elements to get you going: a rough kick drum, cowbells and a smooth pad that gets slapped by just one bass note. the last original on b2 is the ambient-like -organ tutorials-, which shifts your mind directly to outer space. and as if all this wasn t enough, someone really special did a great remix job – khotin from 1080p fame, who gave the a2 cut a treat with his unique trademark sound. four house and ambient tracks both for the floor and the couch. or as gonima puts it: -an ep that has the sound of visiting home in the winter and rediscovering environments frequented in the past, birthing previously obscured memories. the sounds within are a ritual dance to stay warm through the procession of the seasons-

long celebrated as a hub for new producers to showcase their talents, cdr return to the releasing game in partnership with dimensions festival. up and coming house heads k15 and fyi chris reportedly invited lismore and ben houghton to take part in this collaborative release, resulting in four tracks that wouldn t sound out of place soundtracking a balmy afternoon dance on the adriatic sea. oozing quality and soul throughout, there s a distinctly laid back flavour to the house on offer across this release, although fyi chris add a touch more bite with their grubby lo-fi synth lines on -sugar-.

path records, old school brooklyn based leaders in underground psychedelic techno, keep up the twelve inch pressure with a brand new ep from their label-head reade truth. picking up where his recent n-syde records left off (“stares to upstairs”, “blessings of luh”), the 3 track ep abounds in sci-fi techno themes while taking root in a somewhat housier rhythmic structure. the ep begins with the dark, mysterious “omm 0910” where whispered female dialogue and a powerful bassline are combined with cut up efx, trickling liquid soundscapes and solid 909 programming.
* a bump of house* develops around a hypnotic bass line and intricate deep synths and strings, similar to earlier path releases. “drop and see” dives the tempo to 110 bpms and is a mechanical industrial/synth styled number with a clever, hypnotic progression. overall, this ep offers another vital and varied selection of tracks from truth, who is known for providing refreshing and unique ideas throughout his career, including seminal releases on labels like planet e, sonic groove and strictly rhythm. limited to 350 copies, first 200 include a 12×12 graphic insert.

what’s on help008? mainly music from the arhus-boy dj sports. it’s sort of a debut, but sports has released a bunch of tracks on regelbau and help over the past years, solo + with his groups maizena, sportscentral and lester. this young sensible producer initiates the release with the breaky hidden spheres that has a cool piano. next another leftwing original from sports. this one, with it’s flute, breakbeat, confident synth chords and beautiful minor nature is a favourite of mr. sports parents. this one is our favorite, his parents. if we haven’t lost you so far, the flipside contains a timeman dance version with more danceability, hook and playing time than the original version of the bridge that was released on the tape sportscentral. last but not least you get an alternative version of that get-in-touch-with-your-inner-passion/synthesizer-melody-rythmical-ambient-track mindless turns, that also originally appeared on the aforementioned tape. we hope you ll like our new record, that, if on repeat, might provide you hours and hours of by-yourself enjoyment.

the seventh release in this series opens up with dr. shingo’s remix of “malaria” on the a-side - a beautifully crafted downtempo version which skilfully dissolves the techno spirit of the original in crystal-clear electronic soul music with an epic build up. staffan linzatti’s remix of “spiegelkerker” on a2 is a futuristic and minimal interpretation of the original, with a sturdy drum pattern, topped with an alluring blend of bleeps and spaced- out synth tones.the b-side kicks off with stanislav tolkachev’s remix of “the future is on fire pt. 1” - a raw and sinister industrial monster with a bold noize overload.b2 is a remastered version of the classic club hit “the future is on fire pt. 1” by the mastermind christian morgenstern himself.

my cube is cube’s first vinyl lp and it is a multifaceted, kaleidoscopic listen, containing a multitude of moods and atmospheres. it sounds like the west coast’s answer to container, and will appeal to fans of aussie synth-punks total control just as much as it will to fans of regis, silent servant, and their seminal downwards record label.

opening things up, the sinister title track is a dense, winding affair built around staggered tribal patters and powered along with a brooding reese bassline. he/at’s “set openers” have become something he is known for and this is definitely one of his most dramatic. after that madness, “it’s impossible to describe the smell of a wet dog” strips things right down with subtly chaotic-timed rhythms and synth-work. kind of minimal...but not.
on the flip side, “a drama out of a crisis” is a straight-up new-meets-old techno stomper with early beltram-esq beats and modulated melodies, before the ep closes out with the rawness, “the man who made husbands jealous” is a tough acidic kind of work out with an infectious hook we think you’re going to like.

as the summer draws to a close serge devant returns once more to damian lazaruss crosstown rebels with the highly infectious this moment ep. serge original tracks are accompanied by a great dinky remix, to complete this great package. opening up the ep with this moment, devant has created a track that implores the listener to stop and take in all the vibrations, effects and melodies. this is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an addictive horn. pay close attention to in time and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. on the flip and dinky adds her signature vocals, and hooky synth stabs creating a deep and textural remix of this moment.

kian t, a self-confessed analogue synth addict, steps up for the 6th secret reels release and with an ep on big bait already under his belt and one forthcoming on toy tonics, 2016 is looking like a vintage year for this italian producer. this ep is all about tough beats, warm & punchy synth lines and a few dusty vinyl samples thrown in for good measure. kian s production values are always on point, and these 3 tracks are no exception, instantly standing out from the crowd. on remix duties is man of the moment daniel leseman. his solo productions and remixes are firm favourites with a vast swathe of top djs. he is also one half of fouk, alongside junktion, who have absolutely taken over recently with releases on heist, razor-n-tape, house of disco and not to mention their own label outplay. daniel turns the tough syncopated beats of flughafen into a shimmering, funk-laden piece of house.

flumos mainstay ekkohaus returns, this time bringing a full-bodied package for the dance floor. suitably, far fetcher acts as a warm welcome, inviting the listener inside its richly deep analogue soundscapes, reminiscent of deeper sides of classic house rhythms that have come from the usa. its pace provides a perfect way to start off the ep while the synth-vocal creates a soulful depth. things get darker and more aggressive with musketeers, a dub-heavy rhythm that drives one to involuntary movement due to its relentless repetition and & subtle swing. the amalgamation of the synth along with the pulsating sub invigorates one to move and bounce along with these elements. fantasy provides the penultimate party vibe. it s funkiness transcends & the melodies drive the vocals to the extent of ecstasy. rounding off the ep 64 bars features vocals by arthur russel, the synth inflicted break progressions capture the vibe of ekkohaus live sets with its haunting chants hinting towards techno and while its warmth never escapes.

lars von licht’s -from arrows“ is exactly one of this sort: an almost 15min live jam, both simple and sophisticated. a track for special moments and for special people, perfect for reanimating supérieur. one of the frst persons whom i gave this tune last year s summer was lee burridge, who played it straight away at burning man. admittedly, this release took some time, but we wanted to fnd the right moment and the right remixer. we considered many options but came back to one of our own people in the end. dodi palese who released his connaisseur debut earlier this year, felt like the right person to challenge this track and we were right. he has transformed it into a tribalistic high energy bomb, with an unexpected, big synth theme, blowing you away. yes, we are more than happy about this release and it was well worth the wait.

why making a techno record in 2016? in the vast stream of new releases and the everlasting quest of new musical boundaries, blint002 tries to focus on the essentials of pattern-based clubmusic. both tracks started as late night studio jams, using only a drummaschine, a synth and some pedals. while 92 avenue ended up being a straightfoward technotrack, including a massive breakdown for everybody still awake and dancing, you have i dont have is incorporating some boomy hiphop aesthetic without loosing its connection to the dancefloor. both tracks are linked by their unresting synthlines, straying around, trapped in a noisey room full of smoke and distortion. bouncing back to the inital question, the answer with this record seems pretty clear: techno is still nothing but pure dark fun.
